The Posi-Joist flooring system has clear benefits over traditional and competitor methods. One of the main advantages is for the access and maintenance of services in the floor area. As the UK & Ireland continues the shift towards sustainable homes and ventilation and mechanical heat recovery systems become more prevalent, architects and specifiers are looking towards a more versatile system. This is where the Posi-Joist shines. The system twins the strength of the Posi-Strut web with the lightness of timber, combining to enable you to span far greater distances than would be possible by conventional systems. Giving architects and designers unparalleled freedom across applications. Commercial, industrial or domestic, there are clear benefits to using Posi-Joists.

The Economic Choice
When comparing quotations, a simple look at the floor price at the end of the quote often does not tell the whole story. There are many different factors that could affect the final price:
The Posi-Joist system often uses far fewer components than a traditional solid softwood or i-beam floor. The less there is to install, the quicker it will be installed and the cheaper the installation will be.
Posi-Joists can be designed to have single-sided strutting, providing considerable material savings. Staggered webs can save as much as 12% when compared with competitor solutions.
Varying Depths & Widths
Posi-Joists range in depth from 203mm all the way down to 421mm, this combined with varying timber widths means Posi-Joists are suitable for every eventuality.
Using a timber frame construction method? Posi-joists can be top hung from the timber rimboard without the need for temporary bracing, again reducing installation time and required components.
With the Posi-Joist system, there is no need to pay to have holes drilled or joists notched, services can easily flow through the open web system. Every time a carpenter has to drill a joist it costs you money. With the Posi-Joist open web system, installation of services takes minutes not hours.
The typical top chord size of a Posi-Joist is 72 or 97mm in width, making it naturally stable. Strongback bracing is only generally required when a joist exceeds 4m. Unlike other systems, no herringbone strutting is required, thus reducing components and installation time.
Peace of mind
Solid joists alternatives allow for drilling for services, but by there nature these notches must adhere to strict guidelines. The Posi-Joist does not restrict you in this way and can easily allow even large service pipes through its’ webbing delivering maximum flexibility.
